Avet LX 6.0 Kingfish Reel with BMC Drag Update is the ideal king mackerel tournament reel. The fast retrieve and drag curve of this reel allows the angler to fish drags as light as 2 LBS. Lighter drags are important to many anglers who prefer using lighter tackle, and smaller hooks when fishing for kingfish.
Many tournaments have been won by anglers using this reel. 20 LB test monofilament lines such as Sufix and HiSeas Quattro, and 30 to 40 LB test fluorocarbon leaders are the ideal rigging options for slow trolling, or fishing live baits off the kites. When fished with 20 LB Test monofilament, this reel holds 500 yds of line, and with 30 LB Test, the line capacity is 350 yds.
