The design of the Winthrop Adjustable Butt allows this rod to be used as a short curved butt or a straight butt rod. The #14 Winthrop Roller tip is vastly superior to other brands because it does not allow the smaller diameter braided spectra lines to get in-between the actual roller and the guide frame. 6' 2" XH 80 LB Long Range Adjustable Butt Tuna Stand Up Rod
I designed the Sceptre Gladiator adjustable butt long-range tuna rods to provide my customers with a top of the line big game fishing rod featuring ultimate components at a fair price. This rod is available with Avet PRO-EX 30, 50, and HXW Raptor 2 Speed Reels, as well as individually, or combined with one of our other 30 to 50 LB class fishing reels. This rod is suitable for catching tuna, however, it is also an excellent choice for marlin and stand up swordfishing.
The design of the #14 Winthrop Roller Tip is the industry standard when it comes to big game rod design. The Winthrop roller is set into the frame of the guide, which prevents the thinner diameter braided lines from getting between the roller and the actual guide frame. This is imperative to prevent line failure due to friction, This rod features the new Winthrop #2 short curved adjustable uni-butt that allows the rod to be used in both curved and straight butt configurations.
